Creature Thoughts, Nov 2019: The Dark Of The Year

In the United States, and other parts of the globe, what we refer to as Daylight Savings Time has ended. This means that we who live in the northern hemisphere face darkness before evening even arrives. By 5:30 PM, when many people haven’t even had their supper yet, it’s already night in my little section of the Universe. The horses are in the barn, the wild birds have tucked themselves into the trees, and the beings who hunt at dawn and dusk are beginning to prowl.

The dark months of the year affect many humans in various ways. For some, a desire to hibernate takes hold. They hunker down in their cozy homes with a good book, a warm cuppa, and hang out a sign that says, “Be Back In April.” For others, the “safety in numbers” instinct that helped our ancestors survive the frigid winters causes them to seek social contact and companionship. Some people become very sad as the lack of daylight alters chemicals and hormones that affect the brain. Other people love the dark time, and experience it as a time for family warmth, togetherness, revisiting pleasant memories, and (of course) the holiday spirit.

The increase in darkness affects our animals, as well. It’s not uncommon to notice that our dogs and cats are sleeping more, and playing less. Their appetites are sometimes affected and some may actually appear to feel sad. I have been contacted, many times, by pet owners who are concerned that an animal is ill, but aren’t seeing specific symptoms. Of course, I always encourage a good vet checkup, but in the winter months it’s not uncommon for them to show me that they are simply experiencing a lower energy level that they appear to feel is normal.

It’s only natural that some pets are affected more than others and that our animal companions respond to the changing seasons in as wide a variety of ways as their humans do. How do your pets respond to the approaching winter? Do they grow quieter? Do your winter-loving dogs seek more time outdoors, waiting for the snow? Does your kitty follow the cycle of the furnace and park herself near the heat outlets whenever it clicks on?

Do the patterns of your animals match your own? Or are you a winter human living with a summertime pet?

I’ve always felt that we can learn a lot about ourselves by observing our animal family members. By watching how our dogs, cats, horses, and other pets respond to seasonal changes, we often become more aware of our own responses. Take time, as the days grow darker (or lighter, if you live in the southern hemisphere), to observe how your pets’ moods contrast or reflect your own. There are so many ways that our animals can help us to deal with our day to day challenges. Seeing them as our emotional partners through the ups and downs of the year can often help us to deal with those changes.

Creature Thoughts, November 2018: Vibration

Vibration“Everything in life is vibration.” — Albert Einstein

Or, even more dramatically:

“Concerning matter, we have been all wrong. What we have called matter is energy, whose vibration has been so lowered as to be perceptible to the senses. There is no matter.” ― Albert Einstein

Okay, I think we can all agree that Mr Einstein was a pretty smart guy. If he says that everything is vibration, and that, when broken down to the most baseline truth, there is no matter, that sure gives us something to think about.

The energy of the world around us (which is all energy/vibration) affects everything. It is the cause and the sum of all of our experiences, and all that we perceive.

Likewise, the energy that we put out also affects everything. It therefore makes sense that we must draw to us, or repel from us, the energy which matches, or conflicts with, our vibration.

If everything is vibration, and our thoughts and emotions are part of that everything, then it would stand to reason that our thoughts and emotions are vibration as well.

We can see many examples of how various types of vibration can affect the physical world. (Or, the perceived physical world, since if there is no matter…. Okay, I really love trying to wrap my brain around that; forgive me if it gets boring). Even vibrations one wouldn’t casually think of as a physical force can exert enormous influence. Take sound, for instance. You can’t see or touch it, but it can, quite literally, move mountains. It can shake foundations and crumble buildings. It can allow us to look through solid flesh and see what is deep inside.

It can even clean our teeth.

Vibrations are everything, affect everything. This includes our emotions. How we feel about things can quite literally change those things; how we feel about events can dictate their outcome.

The energy put out by other people can also have an effect on us, if we let it. It influences how we feel about them, and can have a strong pull on how we interact with them. It can even change the course of what we do, if someone’s energy effects us in a certain way.

If a relationship begins on deserved trust, it is much more likely to continue positively. If that trust is breached, however, even in the smallest way, what happens to the exchange of vibration?

For (hypothetical) example, if a new client begins our contact with an untruth or misleading information, trust is bruised. This blocks the energy flow, and it might be difficult for me to set that aside and get a good connection with their dog. It would be a challenge to separate the owner from the animal, and not let the animal see the introduced negative. That small breach in initial trust might carry over into me not trusting myself to clearly hear the animal. Worse yet, would my own affected vibration cause the dog to be suspicious of me?

Energy can snowball, often without us even being aware of it.

There are many ways our energy affects those around us, and influences how our relationships progress. The good thing about energy is that, at least in my beliefs, the positive energy far outweighs the bad. The pup in the above hypothetical exchange gives me a virtual tail wag, hearts open up, the breach is healed, and I’m able to help bring that dog and her owner closer together.

You’re having a bad morning, and you head for the office with a grump on. While you’re getting into your car, your neighbor across the way calls, “Good morning,” with a smile, and it lightens your step for the rest of the day.

While you’re home sick and feeling miserable, your text message alert jingles, and you pick it up to find nothing but a single line from your beloved someone: a heart emoji. Without exchanging words, you know someone is thinking of you with love, and you start to feel better.

The right tiny bit of positive vibration, applied at the right moment, can make an enormous difference in the big picture.

One super positive, and very powerful, vibration often comes in the form of two simple words. Hearing them with sincere ears and open heart can really make your day. Saying them, either internally or aloud, can change the course of your life in ways that can grow into something wonderful.

Those words are “Thank you.”

And yes, this long rambling vibration, this whisper and hum of words, was all meant to bring me to that point.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful animal families with me, and for being part of my world. Thank you for the trust you’ve put in me, and for the times you’ve challenged me to truly trust myself.

Thank you for being you.

To all of my friends in the U.S., a very Happy Thanksgiving. And to everyone across the globe, wherever you may be, I wish you a blessed Holiday Season, and a future where good vibrations come your way every day.

Creating Love

I have written two other articles for this issue. I liked the content but they just didn’t feel right. I’ve even posted on Facebook about how creativity has deserted me. I think I know, now, why my animal communication newsletter isn’t coming together. It’s because there is something else, though related, on my heart.

I say “related,” because all things are connected. Everything is energy, vibrating at different levels. Some energies manifest in the physical, others remain higher, invisible until and unless they are brought into tangible form. The energies, the vibrations, that are shaking the planet in this day and time affect all life, all substance, all of the manifestations of Source which make up our world. So, yes, it’s affecting the animals, too.

Many years ago now, a lifetime ago, in a far off land called Spring Farm Cares, I was privileged to attend a professional animal communicators weekend. It took place right around that fateful day of “Nine-Eleven,” so much of the sideline discussion revolved around how to heal the earth. We discussed the effects of that event on the animals. We discussed how thought energy can create changes. I was introduced to the work of Dr Masaru Emoto, and his Hidden Messages in Water.

These were the early days before The Secret, and the whole Law of Attraction movement really took off. It was actually the intriguing photographic evidence presented by Dr Emoto in his work that began to shift certain possibilities into solid form.

One thing I, and many others, believe, is that emotion is an energizing force. It gives power to our thoughts. It is the turbo-boost that allows the physical manifestation of our imagination to take place.

This brings me to today, to our planet in the here and now, 16 years after the day we all promised one another that we would join hearts in love and heal the earth.

Something has backfired.

These times are scary. For many reasons, and regardless of what side they are on, people are afraid. The fear is growing, multiplying. The dangers continue to escalate. People on both sides post in social media or bring up topics of conversation, and the response is anger, ridicule, hatred. Every conversation gets out of hand. Friendships are dissolved. Families separate in anger. People, instead of reaching out a hand and saying, “Let’s help each other,” shove one another away with insults and rage.

Emotion, many believe, is the energizing force behind reality. Emotions are the push toward creative manifestation.

What world are we creating? Are our emotions contributing to what we are seeing all around us?

I am most certainly not saying I’m above negativity—far from it. I read posts, news articles, watch television reports, and I respond with fear. I get angry. I am dumbfounded by the greed and hunger for power. I am baffled by the insanity of many actions and words.

Am I adding to the escalating reality, by pouring my negative emotions into the collective unconscious that energizes it?

In the past week or so, I have worked hard on an inner resolution. From now on, when my heart clenches with fear, I am going to try my best to keep it under control. Oh, I don’t think I will ever be able to be completely unafraid when I see some things which are being done and said. But I am going to do my very best to respond to that fear with love. First, I will love my own heart, bathe it in comfort, and reassure it that as an individual child of the Universe, the Creator lives within me. I will tell my Self that its thoughts count, and that it has power to heal, and to help.

Then, I will take that love and move it outward. I will reach toward the life-energy that feeds our planet, to my fellow humans, and to all of Creation, and I will love. I will think peace, holding it firm, never letting it go. I will envision a beautiful future which grows nearer at a rapid, mind-boggling, inspiring pace, as more and more and more of us (of all races, walks, beliefs, and species) respond not with hatred and anger, but with love.

I will see a conversation that is teetering on implosion, or words that I don’t understand and previously would not be able to embrace as truth. Instead of reacting with anger in my heart, I will think, “I disagree with you. But I love you. Let’s heal together.”

I can’t do this alone. I can be an important part of it, yes, I do truly believe that each of us holds great power in our thoughts and emotions. But we need each other. We need to join our creative love and surround our planet with it.

Have you heard the tale of the 100th Monkey? The story goes that biologists observing two completely separate and isolated colonies of monkeys, on two remote islands, would deliver sweet potatoes to them each day. They began to observe an interesting phenomenon. The monkeys on one island, one at a time, started to wash their sweet potatoes in the water before eating them. This continued until all of the monkeys on this one island were doing the same thing. The scientists put it off to “monkey see, monkey do,” until suddenly, one day, one of the monkeys on the other island washed his sweet potato in the same way. Before long, every monkey, on both islands, were washing their sweet potatoes.

Now, I don’t know if this actually happened, or if it is an analogy of some sort. However, it is a concept that always gives me hope. I do believe, that if enough of us can respond to fear with love, to hatred with comfort, and to discord with cooperation, we can heal the earth. We can help humanity. We can create a future of peace and harmony. We can save our world.

I know that we are living in very scary times right now. However, I am going to try my best to not respond to fear with fear, or to hatred with anger. I intend to practice peace, and to respond with love, as often as I can, in hopes of contributing to the creation of a better reality.

Will you join me?

News and Updates:

Have you hugged your bobcat today?

Okay, probably not the smartest idea. However, you can give a number of bobcats a virtual hug by supporting wildlife rescue centers. These folks work on their own dime, often day and night, without any official compensation and with very little thanks. If you’d like to help your local wildlife and the people who fight for them, seek out your nearest wildlife rescue center, and leave them a donation. The nearest and dearest to my own heart, of course, is New York Wildlife Rescue Center. The link will take you to their website, where you can click the PayPal button and lend a hand.
